Winter is coming! But don’t worry. No blue-eyed zombies are waiting to climb your walls. What’s beyond your walls is more intriguing and worthy of the space in your digital gallery.
Outdoor photography in the winter often seems promising—well, that’s mainly before and after the snow storms. Beautiful scenes of snowflakes patterned across conventional street colors are always breathtaking. However, these scenes are not hard to capture, courtesy of the winter cold.

But this winter, you will be different. So rather than let the cold freeze out the photographer in you, we’ll help you beat it and make the most out of it. We’ve compiled a list of fantastic winter photography tips to help you climb over your walls and take a thousand clicks.

Let’s get started.

1. Trust the forecast, but always prepare for a snowstorm.

Enigmatic outdoor photography scenes are rarely a few meters into the streets. On most wintry days, you might have to hike and climb to reach the best shooting locations.

Whether trekking or climbing, carry a few extra pounds of food, water, phone batteries, and winter clothing. Light snowfall is the safest and most productive condition for winter outdoor photography, so use the weather forecast to map your scene-hunting journey.

Remember, winter isn’t always predictable, hence the need to carry extra.

2. It’s primarily white during winter, so use color contrasts!

Winter is beautiful, but it’s gray and can become gloomy. To avoid an array of gray-colored photographs, spice it up with colors.

Every color would stand out on an extensive white and icy background of snow-covered mountains and pine trees. Throw in the colors; there are no rules to it.

How do you get colors into a winter scene?

You might need a truck to carry a few of your friends and pets, a small tent, and lots of brightly colored clothes. Sometimes nature fights off the snow and retains its colors long enough for you to take a shot. Be camera ready for greens and animals.

You’re most likely to get more out of winter outdoor photography tours after a light snowfall or days after an intense snowstorm.

3. Harness the Blues!

The Blues is winter’s version of Autumn’s golden hour. It is the moment the sky beams gold at sunrise and before sunset. However, it only lasts for about 25 minutes. During winter, that beam reflects a soft glow of blue, perfect for outdoor photoshoots. It is a phenomenal filter for landscape photography.

4. Host your images on ImageCoast.

Do you remember the digital gallery we mentioned at the onset? Yes, the one solely created for your photographs. Well, you can have that gallery on ImageCoast, host as many images as possible, and share them with the world. Click the link to get started.

It’s not difficult to see why Autumn Photography is the favorite season of most photographers. With autumn comes a vast spectrum of bright yet moody colors and many natural phenomena worth a snap. However, there is a catch.

Autumn is beautiful, but replicating that beauty via a camera lens is pretty hard. During autumn, the sun operates in odd extremes, leaving photographers with too much or too little lighting.

Don’t worry, there’s a way around it. We created a list of the most compelling photography tips to help you make the most of the autumn season. No, you don’t have to buy more lights or shades than you already have.

1. Use the golden hour

Do you know that golden moment between dark and sunrise? It’s the replica of the magic light we sometimes get between sunset and the evening twilight. Well, that’s the golden hour, perfect for outdoor photography.

The golden hour is more evident in autumn. As the name implies, it’s that short period when the sun shines gold. It gives you the soft glow, the perfect highlights, and just the right pop you’d need for a shoot.

2. Get creative with the fog

Gray and foggy days are autumn’s best companions. Daytime gets shorter, and most of it comes with a grey fog. If you look closely, you’d see how vibrant colors like red, green, yellow, and bright brown stand out within the mist.

The point is the grey fog is the perfect background for natural colors. You should know that fog comes in various compositions, so you’ll have to go outside to find the right texture or even wait for it to thicken or clear up a bit.

The best scenes to capture are the ones that stick out the most. Plants have all the exciting hues in autumn, but streams, rivers, woods, and lakes usually have an enigmatic look too. So, explore! You never know the wonder you might find.

3. Use low-angle shots

Aside from the fallen leaves, the most spectacular sights in autumn are above ground level. Shooting from low angles gives you a detailed view of autumn wonder and helps create depth.

For example, a straight-line shot would be okay if you took a tree photo. However, a low-angle position would allow sunlight into the frame, showcase the colorful carpet of fallen leaves beneath the tree, and ultimately give your image better quality.

The tips are limitless. However, we trust the above three should get you started. If you’re concerned about indoor photography during autumn, get some autumn leaves inside and experiment with the color transitions between the leaves and your photo subjects.

And when you take those amazing shots, don’t forget to host them on Image coast. There’s no better way to create and showcase an autumn photo gallery.

There was a time when the photography community looked down upon mobile phone photography. Many even believed that smartphone photography would ruin the art of photography. They all have been proven wrong, and smartphone photography is now considered one of the important streams of photography. And today, we’ll talk about iPhone photographers.

It shows that you do not need expensive cameras and fancy gear to capture high-quality photos. It’s your creativity and artistic skills that give birth to incredible photographs. Smartphone cameras certainly have some limitations, but they come with their own set of advantages too. Besides, it makes photography more accessible. Here we picked up the 4 best photographers who create magic with their iPhones. If you are looking for some inspiration, here’s the list.

Hannibal Renberg @leoleoparis

Hannibal Renberg is a Paris-based photographer who captures people in action and street scenes. The beautiful city of Paris comes alive with his beautiful photographs. Hannibal’s photographs are primarily black and white, with a few exceptions. Hannibal captures simple and often mundane moments of life with his iPhone. Hannibal aspires to share his emotions, derisions, and humor through his images.

Dimitry Markov @dcim.ru

Dimitry Markov is a Russian photographer who has a different take on life. This perspective is very palpable in all his photographs. Dimitry’s photographs depict daily life in Russia, and he brings out the unpleasant side of life. Dimitry grew up in early post-soviet Russia. He believes that experience has shaped how he perceives life. Dimitry is a former opioid addict. Markov writes, ‘A drug addict is never satisfied, he always wants more. Do not take it as a recommendation, but this kind of thirst might be very useful for a photographer. You are never satisfied with results, you always want to try again.’

Dina Alfasi is an architecture engineer living in Haifa, Israel. She captures little moments of life with her mobile camera. Dina loves to photograph her co-commuters on the train that she takes every day to go to work. She uses natural light and tells a story through single frames.

Kevin Russ @kevinruss

When most iPhone photographers focus on daily lives and street photography, Kevin Russ explores nature. Kevin was born and raised in California and worked as a portrait photographer and inspector at an agency. In addition, Kevin lived out of his car for two years and documented the rugged landscape of America. He didn’t carry his DSLR to simplify the process; instead, he started capturing photographs with his mobile phone camera. So, head on to his profile to see how he captured the vast wild landscapes with a phone camera.

Are you a photographer that enjoys the adventure and rush of adrenaline from time to time? What about animals, running freely in the wild and living their normal lives? If you said yes, then this blog is for you, our newest wildlife photographer. Wildlife photography can be extremely challenging, there’s no doubt about that. However, many people are fascinated by the life of these wild animals.

In the jaw-dropping world of photography, the grandest image is surprisingly yet to be captured. But you’d agree that the most mesmerizing shots ever taken in photography are focused on mother nature.

Landscape photography is the term used for every planned activity involved in capturing the essence of nature with a camera.

If you’ve taken a picture of the sky, starry nights, and wavering trees, you’re most welcome to the landscape photographers club.

If your first pictures didn’t come out great, don’t worry! You’ll get better with each click of that camera.

However, as a budding photographer, you should know that there’s more to taking great photos than clicking your camera.

Check the list below for the three most essential pieces of equipment that you need to kick start your photography journey.

A Decent Camera

Of course, cameras are essential, and they deserve the top spot on this list. But which camera is most suitable for landscape photography?

Unless you’re looking to take pictures of the milky way galaxies, you can take excellent photos with a relatively cheap camera.

A 24-megapixel camera is a decent choice, but a 30+ megapixel lens might get you more detailed shots.

Whatever camera you get, make sure it’s one with interchangeable lenses, and keep in mind that a camera is just as good as its wielder.

You’ll do well to focus more on your photography skills than your camera.

Filters

What is a landscape photographer without a set of filters?

Post-processing is quite helpful after shooting, but if you want to achieve the best possible picture quality of water and foliage while in the field, you should own a polarizing filter.

It generally helps your camera reduce reflections and improves the saturation of bright spaces like the sky.

UV filters might come in handy during shooting sessions in sandy and windy landscapes. It protects your camera lens from scratches and water droplets, especially when you’re taking photos of waterfalls and sea waves.

Tripods

Who said you don’t need a tripod if you have a camera with a high ISO standard?

Well, that’s not entirely untrue. Cameras with very high ISO are less vulnerable to lightning fluctuations, and if you do have any fluctuations during a shoot, you can fix them using advanced post-processing techniques.

Still, tripods don’t only help you retain stability and image quality like your camera’s ISO. It’s also great for taking shots when using the Panorama and the HDR techniques.

And if you want to make the slightest adjustments in positioning without risking quality loss, use a sturdy tripod.

One more thing! Get a reliable storage system.

Photographers love to keep and study every image they take, good or bad. ImageCoast is the one place you can trust the security of your photos with.

ImageCoast provides the most reliable online photo storage at the best prices.

How about you start taking those shots and let ImageCoast do the keeping for you?
